Kadri Voorand – Live in Munich

Exclusive recording of a special night in Munich at Bergson Kunstkraftwerk. Out on April 3.

My new EP in duo with Mihkel Mälgand is deeply meaningful to me. This live recording from our Munich concert in October 2024 captures a very special decision of the heart, which I believe can be heard in my voice. That evening, I made a choice to be brave and open up emotionally in a new way, using a kind of spiritual practice right there on stage. As a result, I truly felt magic. What makes it even more special is that usually, when something new or extraordinary happens like that, it simply doesn’t get recorded.

The audience in Munich was incredibly warm and open, and as I’ve experienced before, they responded beautifully even to my songs in Estonian — although I chose to include only one of those on this EP. Over time, I’ve developed a personal philosophy about emotional honesty in music, and I truly believe that we as humans are built in a way that we can recognise raw emotion, even without understanding the words.

This EP features several new and previously unreleased songs, which will also appear in studio versions on my full-length album coming in the autumn. Alongside my own songs, I performed John Lennon’s Imagine, which clearly called to me last year — and has stayed in the setlist ever since. It feels like that song has taken on a new meaning in today’s world.

Something new also began for me during this concert — a new layer of courage and openness that continues to grow, and which I believe will be present on the album later this year as well.

Studio work is often emotionally deep for me, but also demanding. Concerts, on the other hand, are a celebration of that work. That’s why I’m truly happy that this Munich concert was recorded so beautifully and can now be shared.
